Bringing an awards ceremony online

The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) is a supportive community of marketing and business development professionals. The Seattle Chapter has been helping Puget Sound Region marketers and business developers succeed in the architecture, engineering and construction industries (A/E/C) since 1983. The Reign Awards is the organizations annual gala that celebrates the accomplishments of marketing efforts in the region.

A different take on using Zoom interviews

The Challenge

Zoom fatigue is real

By the time the annual Reign Awards rolled around for 2020, everyone had become increasingly tired of Zoom meetings and the lack of in-person connection. Although we couldn’t do anything about the need to go virtual, we could find a way to make it more memorable and enjoyable.

What We Did

A new virtual event

Hansen Belyea recorded interviews with all 4 judges and hosts. From the footage collected we created a 45-minute virtual awards ceremony for members of the SMPS community to enjoy. By incorporating the interview footage into various retro environments, we were able to bring the contributors together in a more memorable and engaging format.
